Oh Christmas Tree

So it is the last day of November and all this past week it has been in the mid 60’s. Absolutely beautiful weather! I’m of course used to Maine’s climate and usually by this time of year it’s freezing and snowing. But today it seems like the climate has completely switched. In Bangor, Maine it’s in the 60’s and today it was in the high 30’s today.

Tomorrow is also my best friends birthday and that’s when we usually set up the Christmas tree and start decorating.

We haven’t gotten a Christmas tree (unless you count the small hot pink one). So needless to say we won’t be putting up a Christmas tree tomorrow but possibly this weekend.
We’re getting a fake tree (the spiders in the real trees terrify me) and I want to do colored lights and lots of colored glass balls. and to decorate the back porches I want to get garland and lights and wrap around the banisters and wreath for the front door.

Once we have everything decorated I will share pictures but until then here are some pictures I found to inspire your holiday decorating.

Until next time

xoxo

Grab a cup of coffee and let’s catch up.

Well Thanksgiving was a BLAST! I hope everyone had a great time at their feasts!

Erin and her boyfriend left to go back to Cape Cod this morning, and James went to work so for the first time in 5 days the house was silent! It’s nice having family around but I am happy to be back to my routine. I feel very behind with my shop right now, I usually knit for hours every day and didn’t have a chance this weekend (not that i’d trade spending time with family for knitting haha!) This morning I got straight to work on a new Headband/Neckwarmer like this one

Only the new one is a light green

I was so excited when I sold the white one over the weekend. I wasn’t sure if they would sell or not.
Cyber Monday was GREAT for Etsy! and I’m happy to report my shop did well over the weekend!

Today to catch up on some of my knitting I worked on more coffee cup cozy’s, I made 2 green and a brown one today, I can’t wait to show off some of my new button finds! I have some cool metal Celtic knots and an Irish Claddagh ring button

This is an example of one of my Cozy’s. This one is just a basic red one with a white stripe around the top.

I’m also working on getting more scarves like this one listed

Well moving on from Etsy stuff

Now that I’m back to my regularly scheduled program of a life, i’m happy to report I worked out today! I am still doing the Ballet Body workout and finding it a lot of fun ( My thighs are killing me), and a total throwback to my dance classes, which is fantastic! I also did AM 20 minute yoga today as well and am planning on doing the PM 20 minute yoga with James tonight and making that a habit we get into. And along with getting back in shape now that thanksgiving is over we’ll be back to eating healthy! I can’t wait to start gardening this spring, i’m having so much fun researching the urban gardening stuff and coming up with idea’s that we can do to grow all of our own fruits and veggies next year.

I just finished the second book in the “A Modern Witch” series by Debora Geary which was AWESOME! After I finish the 3rd book, which just came out I will do a book review on it. First I have to find it for my e-reader though. Which brings me to a new topic E-READERS!
I have a Sony Pocket E-Reader and I LOVE IT! I’ve had it for 3-4 years now, not quite sure, but I’ve had it since it came out.  BUT it is getting old, and it’s just not as quick as some of the new ones. I would really like a touch screen one. Maybe I’ll write Santa and ask for one for Christmas 🙂 I’ve always disliked the E-Readers that weren’t E-Ink but the Kindle Fire might make me change my mind … who knows, maybe my Etsy shop will make enough money I can buy one for myself for my birthday! Even if I couldnt’ get the Kindle Fire, the Kindle Touch is only $99 dollars right now which is less than I spent on the one I have now

That’s all for now, I”m going to start knitting some dish cloths …

Our Thanksgiving Plan

I know Thanksgiving was yesterday but because of work schedule’s we aren’t celebrating until Sunday.

We are having 6 people at our house for thanksgiving this year, which isn’t too many people at all! I think I have an easier time planning for 100 than for 6! One of the perks to being a trained chef is that you can pretty much feed a crowd at the drop of a hat. So I thought I would share with you what I did to prep and make this weekend as stress free as possible.
Since James sister and her boyfriend will be staying with us until Monday I’ve also made up a variety of muffins and quick breads. Great for breakfast!

Our Thanksgiving Menu

Appetizers
Stuffed Mushrooms
Stuffed tomatoes
Bruschetta

The Meal
Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Green Beans
Carrots
Broccoli Casserole
Stuffing
Gravy
Fresh Rolls

Now I know this looks like a lot, but with the right planning it’s super easy!

Everything but the turkey was prepped in advance, so all i needed to do on Sunday was re-heat and cook veggies.

Friday: Bake Bread and rolls, and biscuits.
Saturday: Bake Broccoli casserole (to be re-heated in the oven while the Turkey rests). Make stuffing for the stuffed mushrooms and stuffed tomatoes. Will be stuffed and cooked in toaster Saturday early afternoon. Make tomato basil mix for Bruschetta. The potatoes and carrots will also be pealed and chopped and put in their respective pots and stored in the refrigerator. Turkey: we are not brining the turkey but I will be cleaning and seasoning it Saturday afternoon.
Set table tonight.
Sunday: We plan on eating around 2-3 so this is what the scheduler looks like
8-9am: Stuff Turkey with oranges, lemons, onions and herbs start baking
10am: stuff mushrooms and tomatoes, cover and place on baking sheet
11am: broil bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms, and stuffed tomatoes
1pm: Start Potatoes and Carrots (cooks for apox. 45mins, when done place in serving bowls and cover with plastic wrap)
2pm: Take out turkey (rest for 30 minutes)
2pm: make gravy, and stuffing, and saute green beans.  (place in serving bowls when finished and cover)
2:30pm: Serve!

I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving!

New workout routine, that I will probably only do for a week

So, like most people, and I say most people to make myself feel better and a little less lazy, I try to workout. It’s a feeble attempt at best but hey, I try. I’m not overweight or even at risk of being overweight but I am very very out of shape. I currently don’t have a job that requires me to run around like a chicken with it’s head cut off so maybe that has something to do with it, oh and i’m not doing dance or cheerleading anymore …. which probably has A LOT to do with it. So I’ve been coasting for the past 2 years on what my body used to be like and I eat fairly healthy so that hasn’t sped up the fat process much. Of course I did randomly eat cake and ice cream last night. So i’m really not that healthy, but I try …

So yes, workout routine … I’ve tried any different video’s and such but always end up dropping it after a few weeks (or in some cases a few days) The longest workout vid that I suck with was Jillian Michaels 30 day shred … mostly because i feared she’d come to my house and beat me up if I stopped doing it. I don’t know why exactly I don’t stick with the workouts, I enjoy being in good shape, and I always have more energy … sitting on the couch knitting is always such a great alternative though.

I’d love to be more skilled at yoga, but don’t seem to have the attention span, I like Pilates but it’s much more fun in a class with other people. I really enjoy dance workouts, so that’s what i’m going to try again. It’s called Ballet Body Workout. It is a low impact workout so I wont be stopping because my joints are bothering me (yay cheerleading injuries) hopefully it will help strengthen some of my weaker joints
This video is 60 minutes, and if i can manage to do it 5 times a week i’d be pretty happy with myself.  There is some yoga and Pilates incorporated with the ballet so it should change it up enough that I stay interested. I also plan on taking a picture every week documenting my progress. And maybe actually seeing my body change will help me continue the workout.

Well I guess now is as good a time as any to start this workout …

Things that are keeping me from actually working right now

I woke up way to early this morning and decided I would dye my hair. Nothing crazy (this time) just blonde, or what I like to call “luna blonde” which is what color my hair normally is but I have been known to dye it red randomly. So yea blonde, hair dye, and I just got my hair cut a month or so ago, which means i never style my hair anymore because I miss the length. It was down to the middle of my back and I cut about 9-10 inches off

Image

This is what color my hair is now ❤ Also I want that hat.

As of right now I have 4 projects I should be working on … 3 coffee cup cozies for a customer and an infinity/loop scarf for another customer. But alas I have been distracted by the lovely internet haha oh and shopping

Image I just bought this from AE, I think it’ll look cute with a long sleeve shirt underneath it. Perfect for thanksgiving =) … Plus it was on sale.

Well since I only have 3 more hours until I head over to my friends for dinner I guess I should actually get some real work done.

Oh Zelda update, I played for an hour yesterday and only caught 1 damn fish! I’m so sick of being in the town! I like RPGs but sometimes the trivial stuff gets really annoying and I have no idea if I’m doing something wrong and that’s why i’m not catching fish but I’m doing the same thing I did when I caught the first one. Stupid cat and depressed crazy cat woman. I had planned on returning the game to my friend when we go over for dinner but I told him i’m holding it hostage for another 2 weeks haha. But if i keep getting frustrated with this I’m going to just skip and play Fable.

AND because we aren’t doing thanksgiving until Sunday because that’s when the family will be here, we are going to go black Friday shopping, even though I hate it and think it’s dumb and have successfully avoided going. What made me change my mind you ask? Well xbox 360 games at Sams Club are going to be 30-40$ instead of 60$ …. so I will deal with crowds for video games.

But really I need to knit now … ta ta
