Coffee and Coding

So last night, after my super classy dinner. I decided it was time to re-vamp my website and do some updating. So I brewed a pot of coffee and set off to work.

I have to say I’m very pleased with the results. This is my first website, and please if you have any feedback I’d love to hear it!

So after I finished that I decided it was time to change things up here as well. As many of you i’m sure have noticed my layout is different today. This is the first time I’ve changed it since starting this blog and I like it so far. I really like the twitter and facebook buttons on the top of the page there. I also worked on my other blog some more.

Which is the blog ‘run’ by Zeus, Athena and Isis.

I am very excited about doing this 50% off sale! We are about 10 fans away from activating the coupon code. And once it goes live it’ll only last for 72 hours.

I also have been trying new ads. I’ve never done them before but so far they’ve resulted in my views to my shop, and website. Which I am thrilled about. I’ve given the Etsy Ads a try, and only did the minimum. Which is $7. I’ve gotten many more views, but no sales directly from that. But I have 4 more days left with that so we’ll see how that goes. If I get sales from it I’ll definitely keep doing it. I also got a credit for $50 for facebook ads which I activated last night. Shortly after it went live my fan page had 20 new likes in a matter of minutes, and a few people writing on my wall saying they had just discovered my shop and whatnot and that they love my stuff. Which of course makes me so happy!

If anyone has any suggestions for Ads I’d love to hear them 🙂

Coffee Candle

I saw this on pinterest as a centerpiece. Ideally it’s a clear glass or vase of some sort filled with coffee beans with a tea light in the center, when the candle heats up it makes the coffee smell stronger. I usually light a tea light before bed and let it burn since they only burn for a few hours. And this way it makes my room smell like coffee 🙂

and I think I’ve found the perfect centerpieces for our wedding ❤

Knitting Challenged

Well it certainly feels like it’s been a while since I blogged last. I started writing two days ago and almost was ready to hit the publish button when my computer died, it has a very short battery life and I didn’t realize it had come unplugged, oops haha. I have 5 new Coffee Mug Cozy’s that I need to list in my shop today, along with 2 new sets of Mini Dish Cloths. But I fear i’m not quite awake enough to work on photoshop haha. So I thought I’d sit down and have another cup of coffee with you lovely folks. Since we’re on the topic, let’s talk about coffee for a moment shall we!

This weekend James and I went to visit our friends in Johnson City for, what we call, our bi-weekly socialization. Since I work from home and James has been working 10 hour days we’re kind of horrible about making friends. but as luck would have it we’ve befriended another couple who are also crazy busy (more than we are) with 2 of the cutest kids I know. So about every other weekend we go visit them for some grown up time. And as an added bonus Starbucks just happens to be on the way to their house =). Starbucks just recently came out with a new roast, Blonde. Being the coffee addicted person I am I had to try it, so this week in addition to my Venti upside down caramel macchiato I bought a bag of the new Blonde blend. I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. I enjoy lighter coffee in the morning and Blonde is perfect! It however is not my new favorite, I have yet to taste a roast that is better than Guatemala Antigua, my go to blend. So if you’re looking for a change, and enjoy a lighter roast give Blonde a try ❤

Since the title of this post is Knitting Challenged I suppose I’ll get to that next.

I would like to preface this with, no walls were harmed in this next story…

It was Friday afternoon and I decided that I wanted to try to knit socks again. I know the basics and how to do I just never seem to have the patients. So I got on youtube and I found myself a tutorial and found a great beginners sock pattern. Now if you’re one of those people that can knit on double pointed needles, good for you! And no that is not sarcasm! In my opinion it takes a lot of skill and some amazing dexterity. You know when you’re little how girls play with barbies and boys played with tonka trucks, apparently putting on those tiny shoes and buttoning those tiny buttons and those small blouses really helped with those fine motor skills. I guess I played with tonka trucks because I have 0 fine motor skills as it turns out! After 4 grueling hours of casting on, finding twisted stitches and ripping them all out, casting on again and getting one row completed to have everything slip off I was flabergasted to the point of throwing all 4 needles with their ball of yarn across the room and hitting the living room wall. At which point my cat looked at me like I was some sort of crazy person. and at that point I probably was. I understand the basic mechanics, know all the stitches and I know HOW to do it I just can’t physically do it. So for now I’m taking a vacation from double pointed needles for the sake of my sanity. In reality I think the only reason I got so upset was because I wasted 4 hours of work not accomplishing anything, but I suppose this is how we learn.

After this fiasco I vowed to work on things I already know how to do, maybe try a few new texture patterns. At least until we move, if we end up moving. We are looking at a house, and for fear i’ll jinx anything that’s all i’ll say on the subject at this time =) but stay tuned!

So I have 2 giant baskets of misc yarn that I’ll be turning into Coffee Mug Cozy’s and Travel Mug Sleeves. I finished 5 yesterday, and I also started a new scarf. The sleeves and cozy’s are selling pretty well right now so I’d like to keep as many as I can in stock, and since they are small projects I can try out different lace patterns and different texture patterns with them.

Well this has been a rather long winded blog with no pictures, and I’ve finished my 4th cup of coffee, I suppose that should be enough caffeine to allow me to work on photo editing for a few hours.

Have a great Monday!

Just another reason I’m a loyal Starbucks customer <3

A funny thing happened on the way to the theater … okay we weren’t going to the theater, we were going to Auto Zone … and it probably wasn’t even funny … but in the early morning light my caffeine deprived brain thought it was funny so I’m going to tell you about it. Also it sort of ties into Things I Love Thursday.

So like I’ve already said we were going to Auto Zone this morning. The starter went on the BMW on Christmas Eve so James is fixing that today and luckily was able to take some time off work to do it. If only every job had paid time off, but I guess that’s what you get when you stay in school for 5 years, anywho, so what better motivation to drag my ass out of bed this morning than “Hun auto-zone is by Starbucks, we can stop there first” That did it, I was up and presentable in about 5 minutes. Now  for a little background on our Starbucks trips, as I’m sure you know it’s a fairly expensive habit unless you’re drinking just coffee but I like the seasonal drinks and Starbucks is a treat so today I was totally feeling a Creme Brule Latte Venti of course. To save money James and I usually just split a Venti but we often run into the problem of him drinking it all as I like to savor it and enjoy it. So this morning while waiting in line I told him to get his own, but he didn’t want to so I said “if you drink it all i’ll kill you in you’re sleep” he laughed and the barista thought it was hilarious so when we got our drink there was this nice little note on it.

Breakfast of champions

*Don’t drink past here 🙂

I can’t think of a time when I was disappointed by the customer service at Starbucks, they are always so friendly. When I worked at American Eagle I used to go there almost twice a day and first thing in the morning I could stumble in there half awake (how i drove to work is beyond me) and mumble incoherently and without a doubt the barista would make me something amazing. So the long and short of it I guess is that i’m one of those people that will pay the extra money for the perfectly brewed espresso and friendly staff. Now if only they delivered =)

My newest crafty project <3

Okay, so for my Etsy shop I make  a lot of “Cup Cozies” and they’re a big hit, but the ones I’ve been making for the past year are for travel mugs primarily and don’t fit on mugs unless your mug doesn’t have a handle. So I’ve been trying to figure out a pattern for Mug Cozies and I’m happy to report I have succeed!

On to the new cozies!

You’ve been warned, I haven’t had coffee yet

Like the title says .. you’ve been warned. I am in fact one of those people heavily dependent on coffee. And it’s not just the caffeine, I believe it’s the coffee itself. The warm comforting aroma is unmistakable in the early morning hours when I’ve been callously ripped out of my warm comfortable bed to make breakfast and pack lunch in the cold kitchen. Not that I detest waking up early, I rather enjoy it … just not the first hour or so … If I sleep in, which I usually only do when I’m sick, I feel as if I’ve wasted the entire day because I’m usually asleep around 9pm 10 at the latest. Last night however this was not the case … I had about 50 pages left of The Hunger Games so at 10pm when I still was wide awake I though, well I’ll read for a bit and that will help me shut my brain off and sleep …. I was very wrong … I finished The Hunger Games, and couldn’t resist starting Catching Fire (I have them all lined up on my Ereader). So … 3am rolls around and I think … well if I go to bed now that’ll be a good 3 hours of sleep … I haven’t thought that way since college! 3 hours of sleep doesn’t work for me, I revert into a fussy 5 year old.

On to the good stuff. So basically since I’m just now getting my first cup of coffee in my bloodstream don’t be surprised at grammatical errors and you may find words randomly for no reason … I tend to start a thought and then completely forget about it and move on before I’ve gotten a full sentence out.

It’s a rainy day here in Bristol, TN. Which calls for pajamas, television, knitting of course, and possibly an afternoon nap…. or midmorning nap depending on how it goes.

I have all the things I need to start Bri’s headband/neckwarmer

It’ll be like this only in Chocolate Brown, with a green button to fasten it. I need to be fully awake before I tackle that pattern though.

Last night while at Michaels their ribbon was 50% off … not even sure what i’ll use ribbon for but I bought a bunch of it for 50 cents, I think it’ll be a great addition to my packaging for the items in my shop.
We also finished decorating for Christmas so I wanted to share those pictures with you as well.

The Stockings might be my favorite, mostly because they were so affordable! The stockings were 97 cents and the letters were only 97 cents as well! All of the other stockings were upwards of $15 and I just refuse to pay that much for something that will only be displayed a few days out of the year. Well that’s all for now, I need to drink more coffee… maybe find a bagel or something.

I”ll leave you with this

I took this a few days ago … and am using a yellow mug now, but am not doing anything crazy like wearing jeans already… i’ve got a nice pair of yoga pants and one of the boyfriends tshirts. Perfectly curled up on the couch with a steaming mug of “Tricia Coffee” and about to watch Glee
❤ have a great day everyone!
